Director – Consumer and Fair Trading

About the role

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) is seeking a senior leader to head its Consumer and Fair Trading Division. This role will drive compliance and enforcement activities that protect consumers and support fair trading across the Australian economy.

Key responsibilities

• Support the General Manager as a member of the leadership team, overseeing the branch’s strategic direction.
• Lead a team of professionals, fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment.
• Provide coaching, continuous feedback, conflict resolution and career development for staff.
• Manage a diverse portfolio of projects and investigations, ensuring strategic focus and high‑quality conduct.
• Coordinate collaboration across branches and divisions, including Consumer Compliance Strategies, Retail and Supermarkets, and Small Business and Agriculture.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in regulatory compliance, enforcement or consumer protection.
• Strong knowledge of the Australian Consumer Law and related legislation.
• Proven senior leadership and people‑management capabilities.
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast‑moving, complex environment.
