Diesel Motor Mechanic & Fitter

About the role

Murray Engineering, an Australian mining services provider with branches in Pinjarra, Kalgoorlie and Mongolia, is looking for a Diesel Motor Mechanic and a Fitter to join its team in Western Australia. The position is full-time, with a salary of $80,000 to $120,000.

Key responsibilities

• Diesel Motor Mechanic: test and adjust mechanical parts after repair; dismantle and remove engine assemblies, transmissions and steering mechanisms; diagnose and fix mechanical and electrical faults in diesel engines; reassemble engines after repairs and overhauls; carry out scheduled maintenance such as oil changes, lubrication and filter replacement.
• Fitter: diagnose faults and perform operational maintenance of machines, overhaul and repair mechanical parts and fluid power equipment; check fabricated metal parts for accuracy, clearance and fit with precision instruments; study drawings and specifications; set up machining tools, dies and presses and controls for textile machines; read plans and work orders and complete job documentation; install, maintain and repair to specification.

Required profile

• Certificate III with at least one year of relevant experience, or Certificate IV; three years of relevant experience may be accepted in place of the formal qualification.
• Relevant experience may also be required.
• Registration or licensing may be required for the occupation.
