DevOps Engineer

About the role

As a senior DevOps Engineer based in Brisbane, you will support, optimise and improve the technology platforms that power Great Southern Bank's digital and payment systems. The role focuses on automation, stability, security and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Support and optimise critical application platforms and AWS cloud environments to ensure high availability and reliability.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines and automate build, deployment and operational processes.
• Manage system patching, vulnerabilities, capacity and platform lifecycle for secure, resilient environments.
• Configure and maintain monitoring and alerting for 24x7 critical systems.
• Lead technical incident response and communicate with stakeholders during service disruptions.
• Provide technical leadership to engineers and partner teams while driving continuous improvement.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience across IT environments, including application support, cloud engineering and systems administration.
• Demonstrated technical leadership, stakeholder and vendor management skills.
• Experience supporting business‑critical, customer‑facing digital banking or payment platforms.
• Degree in Information Technology or equivalent; relevant certifications highly regarded.

Required skills

• Deep experience with AWS and cloud‑native technologies.
• Exposure to on‑premise environments, containerisation and platforms such as VMware, OpenShift or Fargate.
• Strong DevOps and automation capabilities, including CI/CD pipelines, build and deployment automation.
• Scripting with Bash, PowerShell or Groovy.
• Broad knowledge of Windows and Linux environments, networking, storage, databases, integration and security.
