DevOps Cloud Engineer

About the role

A DevOps Cloud Engineer is needed in Sydney or Melbourne to set standards, engineering patterns and DevOps policies, and to deliver cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure using Terraform. The role balances hands-on development with technical leadership, working with architects, delivery squads, principal engineers and project managers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop standards, engineering patterns, DevOps policies and IaC modules, and define the standard approach for project engineering teams' infrastructure delivery.
• Develop, deploy and configure workloads on Microsoft Azure using Terraform in a DevOps environment.
• Write solution, detailed and functional design documents in line with standards and guidelines.
• Build, test and maintain monitoring and observability tools for managed environments, including non-functional areas such as security, reliability and performance.
• Review technical designs against functional, resilience, security, reuse and operational needs.
• Automate existing processes with DevOps and contribute design models and patterns to the Fund's central knowledge repository.
• Provide technical leadership, align cloud solutions to target architecture and standards, and help other technology teams with operations so platforms are reliable, resilient and supportable.

Required profile

• 8-10+ years of experience in medium to large IT environments.
• 4 years designing and building cloud solutions on Azure Public Cloud (IaaS and PaaS).
• Experience with DevSecOps strategy and ways of working.
• Hands-on application deployment and infrastructure building via Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
• Infrastructure-as-Code and Terraform experience, plus knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.

Required skills

• In-depth knowledge of Azure, including Azure Backup and Azure Monitor for IaaS workloads.
• Scripting and automation with Python, PowerShell, Bash or similar.
• Deep knowledge of Azure policies used to enforce compliance, security and governance via policy-as-code.
