Desktop Engineer - Mining Sector

About the role

A client is looking for an experienced Desktop Engineer to provide hands-on IT support across corporate and operational environments. The role combines BAU support with project work, supports users across several locations in Australia and requires regular travel to regional and interstate sites. It is advertised as a 6-month contract with potential for permanent placement, based in Perth.

Key responsibilities

• Provide onsite and remote support for end-user devices, applications and workplace technology environments.
• Support Microsoft 365, Windows and core business applications.
• Travel to regional and interstate sites for onsite technical support and project assistance.
• Deploy, configure and maintain devices using Microsoft Intune and Windows Autopilot.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, peripheral and connectivity issues.
• Manage support requests from logging to resolution and keep stakeholders informed.
• Administer user accounts, devices and access via Active Directory.
• Work with internal teams, vendors and external providers, and keep accurate records and knowledge base articles in the IT service management platform.
• Escalate complex incidents and help with technology refreshes and infrastructure upgrades.

Required profile

• At least three years' experience in desktop support, endpoint management or a similar IT support role within the mining industry.
• Ability to work independently and travel to remote and regional locations; current Australian driver's licence.
• Experience with ticketing systems and IT service management processes.

Required skills

• Microsoft Windows and Microsoft 365 environments.
• Microsoft Intune, Autopilot and modern endpoint deployment.
• Active Directory administration.
• Networking fundamentals and troubleshooting of connectivity issues.
