Senior BI Analyst - Power BI

About the role

A high-performing Business Insights team in Perth is looking for an experienced Senior BI Analyst to help deliver critical reporting and analytics initiatives across the organisation. The role suits a BI professional with strong Power BI development expertise, a passion for data visualisation and the ability to turn business requirements into reporting solutions. It is a 3-month initial contract with potential extension.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with business stakeholders to gather, analyse, document and translate reporting requirements into BI solutions.
• Design, develop and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, semantic models and visualisations.
• Build and optimise data models, DAX measures, KPIs, calculations and reporting logic.
• Perform data analysis, validation, reconciliation and troubleshooting to ensure data quality and reporting accuracy.
• Support testing, deployment, documentation, governance compliance and continuous improvement of reporting platforms.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering enterprise-scale Power BI reports, dashboards and analytical solutions.
• Experience with complex datasets and Power BI semantic models.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Experience with modern data platforms and cloud-based analytics environments such as Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, AWS or similar.

Required skills

• Power BI, DAX, Power Query (M) and SQL.
• Data modelling best practices.
• Desirable: exposure to Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, AWS Data Lake, Redshift or Athena; security and governance controls in Power BI; DevOps, CI/CD and Agile experience.
