Design / Project Engineer

About the role

Join a fast‑growing Australian MedTech company as a Design / Project Engineer, based in Lane Cove West. You will lead the end‑to‑end design of surgical instruments and spinal implants, working closely with R&D, regulatory, marketing and manufacturing teams as well as clinicians.

Key responsibilities

• Develop concept designs, detailed CAD models and GD&T drawing packages for Class II/III medical devices.
• Perform mechanical testing, FEA and computational validation to meet ASTM and ISO standards.
• Manage design architecture, risk and issue registers, and ensure design transfer readiness for manufacturing.
• Collaborate with RAQA, marketing, sales, operations and external stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Biomechanical or related engineering (Honours preferred).
• Minimum three years of product development experience, preferably in medical devices.
• Proven ability to manage mechanical V&V test programs and design documentation.

Required skills

• Expert‑level SolidWorks (or equivalent CAD) with full PDM/PLM management.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T and creation of complete drawing packages.
• Experience with FEA, computational design validation, and mechanical testing strategies.
• Familiarity with ASTM and ISO standards for medical device validation.
