Design Manager - Commercial Construction

About the role

ROUSSOS Recruitment is seeking an experienced Design Manager for a commercial construction opportunity in Adelaide. The role coordinates design activities from early planning through to construction delivery, working with builders, consultants and clients to deliver practical, commercially sound design solutions. It suits an architecturally qualified professional who wants to take ownership of the design process.

Key responsibilities

• Manage design coordination from early planning through to construction delivery.
• Oversee architectural drawings, specifications, tender documentation and design packages.
• Coordinate consultants so that design information is accurate and delivered in line with project programmes.
• Work with builders and construction teams to achieve practical, buildable design solutions.
• Integrate design requirements with construction methodology, commercial objectives, quality and safety.
• Identify and manage design risks, discrepancies and technical issues.
• Maintain strong relationships with project stakeholders to support timely decisions.

Required profile

• Degree in Architecture.
• Experience in the commercial construction industry.
• Design management or design coordination experience on building projects.
• Commercial awareness and an understanding of construction methodology and buildability.

Required skills

• Understanding of architectural documentation, specifications and consultant coordination.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.
• Collaborative approach and ability to build lasting industry relationships.
