Design Engineer – Water & Wastewater Infrastructure

About the role

The Design Engineer will work closely with Project Managers to coordinate the delivery of engineering design documentation and drawings for water and wastewater network infrastructure across Queensland. The role ensures designs meet contractual scope, industry specifications, Australian Standards, programme timelines and budgets.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure designs following Sequana Group procedures.
• Integrate multidisciplinary inputs (civil, hydraulic, mechanical, structural) to produce practical design outcomes.
• Report design progress to the Project Manager and maintain monthly program updates.
• Capture design changes via the DCR system and ensure all drawings are reviewed and audit‑ready.
• Conduct safety‑in‑design reviews and support design through concept, detailed, tender and construction phases.
• Collaborate with clients, water authorities, contractors and stakeholders to resolve technical issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Environmental or related engineering discipline.
• At least 5 years’ experience in water, wastewater or utilities design.
• Experience with water and sewer networks, pipelines, pump stations and reservoirs.
• Preferred CPEng & RPEQ registration and White Card induction.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
