Design Assistant - Innovation

About the role

We are seeking a creative and organised Design Assistant to join our Innovations team in Pyrmont, Sydney. You will work closely with Designers, R&D and Garment Technicians to support the development of new seasonal ranges and gain hands‑on experience across the full product design and development process.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Design team with seasonal product development, preparing work requests, development packs and technical information.
• Assist with prototype samples and fitting sessions, coordinating with Garment Technicians to keep projects on track.
• Conduct trend and market research, including store visits, online research and forecasting.
• Create storyboards, sketches, mock‑ups and other materials to support new product concepts.
• Prepare presentations, sales tools, colour swatches, storyboards and product samples.
• Maintain accurate product information in PLM, ensuring documentation and artwork are completed on time.
• Support wider Design team projects and identify opportunities to improve processes.

Required profile

• A qualification in Fashion Design, Fashion and Textiles or a related field.
• Previous experience in a similar design or product development role, including internships or graduate experience.
• Creative mindset with strong interest in fashion, apparel and commercial product design.
• Understanding of fabrics, textiles, garment construction and apparel manufacturing.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Collaborative approach, strong communication skills and willingness to learn.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience using PLM systems (highly regarded).
