Deputy - Steelmaking Coal Mine

About the role

Anglo American Steelmaking Coal is seeking multiple Deputies on a full-time, permanent basis at its Moranbah North mine in Queensland. The Deputy ensures legislative compliance for all site activities, manages the safety, productivity and reporting of personnel and resources, and leads operational teams according to the daily plan.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and execute daily shift plans, directing crews on priorities and work requirements
• Lead team meetings and ensure compliance with daily and weekly operational plans
• Prioritise tasks and assign team members, equipment and resources
• Decide and act on shortfalls, unplanned risks and events, and complete shift handovers with incoming and outgoing Deputies
• Manage day-to-day activities in the assigned district, including statutory roadway inspections and reports under the Coal Mines Regulation Act
• Monitor quality and safety, ensure safety management tools and work instructions are followed, and comply with environmental and social requirements
• Provide training, coaching and feedback, and take part in productivity and process improvement programs

Required profile

• Extensive experience in underground coal mining, with understanding of the coal mining process and relevant legislation
• Proven management experience, leadership ability and strong interpersonal skills
• Commitment to Zero Harm

Required skills

• Current Queensland Deputy or (1st or 2nd) Certificate of Competency, or NSW Deputy Certificate with mutual recognition
• Current First Aid certificate (minimum)
• Current RIIIS301, RIIOHS301, RIICOM301 and RIIRIS402 certificates
