Mine Trades Technician Electrical - Development

About the role

Grosvenor Mine, an underground steelmaking coal mine in Moranbah, is building a team to support its planned return to longwall production by Q4 2027. This is a hands-on underground position within the Development team, supporting the safe and reliable operation of electrical equipment and infrastructure across development panels. You will work closely with development crews, electrical coordinators and maintenance teams.

Key responsibilities

• Complete planned and breakdown electrical maintenance across underground development equipment.
• Fault-find, repair and maintain electrical systems, machinery and supporting infrastructure.
• Support the installation, commissioning and relocation of electrical equipment as development panels advance.
• Maintain cables, communication equipment, electrical reticulation and panel infrastructure.
• Carry out electrical inspections, testing and statutory maintenance activities.
• Diagnose faults and return equipment to service safely and efficiently.
• Coordinate maintenance with mechanical trades, production crews and supervisors, and contribute to reliability and continuous improvement.
• Maintain accurate maintenance, inspection and equipment records, and follow isolation, permit, risk assessment and change-management requirements.

Required profile

• Australian-recognised electrical trade qualification and a current Queensland electrical licence.
• Experience maintaining electrical equipment in an underground coal mining environment.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation.
• Ability to work a 7/7 rotating afternoon-night or day-night roster.
• Current coal mining competencies and site authorisations (S1, S2, S3 and G2).

Required skills

• Electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Understanding of electrical isolation, testing and safe work practices.
• High voltage switching competency or experience, EEHA competency.
• Experience with continuous miners, shuttle cars, feeder breakers, auxiliary fans, pumps, development conveyor systems, trailing cables and control systems.
