Deployment Manager

About the role

You will join the team delivering the Bus Solution package of the Opal Next Generation (ONG) program, a high‑impact initiative reshaping passenger journey planning, payment and real‑time information across NSW’s Opal‑enabled bus network. As Deployment Manager you will lead planning and end‑to‑end execution of the physical deployment of the ONG Bus Solution.

Key responsibilities

• Own, maintain and execute the Deployment Management Plan, incorporating bus survey findings, installation design and regional schedules.
• Establish, resource and manage third‑party installation teams across depots, overseeing pre‑installation preparation, testing, commissioning and quality assurance.
• Control daily deployment activities, track progress, manage exceptions and ensure handover of operationally ready vehicles.
• Monitor contractor performance, manage variations, and coordinate with Program Director, PMO and commercial stakeholders.
• Execute regional transition, cut‑over and hyper‑care, supporting technical workstreams and post‑deployment stabilisation.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading large‑scale, multi‑site field deployments of on‑vehicle or fleet hardware.
• Strong track record managing installation crews, subcontractors and third‑party suppliers in a complex environment.
• Public transport or transit‑technology background with familiarity of depot operations and bus availability constraints.
• Based in NSW, willing to travel across the Greater Sydney Region.

Required skills

• Project scheduling tools such as MS Project or Wrike.
• PRINCE2 delivery governance knowledge.
• WH​S competency for live operational environments.
