Department Manager – Retail Operations

About the role

As a Department Manager at Bunnings you will oversee daily operations, sales and high‑volume stock management for your specialist area. You will lead a team of 20+ colleagues, ensure a safe and engaging store environment, and act as the primary point of contact for customers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of 20+ staff, handling duty manager duties including opening and closing the store.
• Plan rosters, manage performance, and foster a strong safety and compliance culture.
• Drive department sales through effective merchandising, KPI monitoring and strategic planning.
• Maintain stock accuracy, oversee replenishment, adjustments and loss‑prevention processes.
• Respond to customer feedback and continuously improve the end‑to‑end experience.
• Liaise with merchandising, health & safety, store leadership and supplier teams.

Required profile

• Highly driven individual with strong leadership and influencing abilities.
• Proven experience leading large retail teams, with a focus on safety, wellbeing and specialist product knowledge.
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders, understand KPIs and consistently exceed customer expectations.
