Data Platform and Solutions Engineer

About the role

Bed Bath N' Table, an Australian-owned family business with over 180 stores across Australia and key locations in New Zealand and Singapore, is looking for a Data Platform and Solutions Engineer to build and shape its enterprise data capability. Reporting to the Head of IT, you will define the data roadmap, design scalable solutions and turn data across the business into trusted, actionable insights. The role covers data strategy, architecture, engineering, quality and governance, and platform operations.

Key responsibilities

• Shape and deliver the data roadmap and platform strategy, and define scalable data architecture, integration standards and enterprise data products.
• Design reusable data products, semantic models and trusted datasets that support reporting, operations and decision-making.
• Build and support data pipelines, integrations, datasets and services across the enterprise.
• Establish data standards, metadata, lineage, governance controls and data contracts, and implement data quality, security and compliance frameworks.
• Enable approved AI initiatives through governed, high-quality data and scalable pipelines.
• Monitor and optimise data platforms, lead issue resolution and root cause analysis, and integrate data across ERP, POS, warehouse management and eCommerce systems.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to the data capability.

Required profile

• Proven experience building and supporting cloud-based data platforms, pipelines and data products.
• Experience shaping data architecture, enterprise data capabilities or data strategy.
• Ability to translate business needs into practical data solutions.
• Relevant qualifications or certifications in Information Technology, Data Engineering, Cloud, Analytics or Solution Architecture.

Required skills

• Strong SQL and data engineering skills, with Python (or similar).
• Data integration, governance, quality, security, metadata and lineage best practices.
• Modern data platforms, lakehouse architectures and business intelligence tools.
• Designing reusable data products, semantic models and analytics solutions.
• Exposure to AI-enabled solutions, APIs and enterprise integrations.
• Experience integrating ERP, POS, warehouse management or eCommerce platforms.
