Data Governance Analyst

About the role

ALDI's National Data Analytics (NDA) department is hiring a permanent full-time Data Governance Analyst in Minchinbury. The NDA office sets up enterprise-wide data management, data quality and AI governance practices so that decisions are based on trusted data and business outcomes are sustainable. It connects business processes, data, architecture and technology to find risks, improve data quality and embed governance in data platforms, products and initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse complex data management problems across business processes, source systems, Databricks and downstream consumption, and recommend governance responses.
• Design scalable data quality and governance approaches, including critical data points, monitoring, ownership, issue management and remediation.
• Define governance expectations for major data acquisition and transformation patterns and influence how controls are built into Databricks pipelines and data products.
• Improve enterprise metadata, business definitions, lineage, ownership and discoverability using Databricks and Unity Catalog.
• Apply DAMA-DMBOK disciplines to shape NDA standards and solutions for complex business and technology initiatives.
• Support Data Engineering, Data Architecture, Product Owners and senior business stakeholders, and advise on AI governance, data protection, complex DPIAs and international data initiatives.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to develop governance solutions for complex problems and influence senior business and technical stakeholders.
• Significant experience applying data management and governance expertise to complex business and technology environments.
• Broad, practical knowledge of DAMA-DMBOK disciplines across the data lifecycle.

Required skills

• Advanced analytical and SQL capability, with strong knowledge of Databricks or comparable modern data platforms.
• Strong understanding of data architecture, ingestion, transformation, data quality, metadata, lineage and Unity Catalog or comparable governance capabilities.
