Data & AI Architect

About the role

Mivada, a high-growth Australian technology consultancy, is looking for a Data & AI Architect to report to the Head of Data & AI and lead a small team of specialists. The role owns Azure-based AI/BI and agentic offerings, the firm's Responsible AI, data governance and AI assurance framework, and its Microsoft Data & AI partnership. It works alongside several COEs and pre-sales teams and drives the governance, training and adoption program set out in the AI Strategy & Roll-Out Roadmap.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of 3-5 Azure AI/BI engineers and AI/data governance specialists, including recruitment, onboarding, performance reviews and workload allocation.
• Design, build and productionise AI/BI and generative AI solutions on Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Fabric and Microsoft Foundry, including natural-language analytics and agentic workflows.
• Package proven patterns into reusable, sellable offerings and hand them over to client delivery pods with guardrails and runbooks.
• Own the practice's data governance approach for AI and analytics (ownership, classification, lineage, quality, cataloguing) using Microsoft Purview, and deliver client-facing trust offerings such as AI governance operating models and Copilot data-protection reviews.
• Own the Microsoft Data & AI partner relationship, including the Solutions Partner for Data & AI (Azure) designation, co-sell, joint go-to-market and partner-funded programs, and represent Mivada at Microsoft partner forums.
• Build the reusable prompt/playbook library, recruit and train the peer-coach network, and deliver Responsible AI and AI literacy training.
• Contribute Responsible AI thought leadership, advise client executives and risk, privacy and compliance stakeholders on AI governance, and coach consultants in Azure AI delivery.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience leading and developing a small technical team (performance reviews, resourcing and capacity planning).
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Senior experience in data and AI engineering or consulting, with hands-on delivery on Microsoft Azure data and AI services.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including with executive, risk and compliance audiences.

Required skills

• Hands-on delivery on Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Microsoft Foundry, Azure OpenAI and Power BI.
• Building and productionising generative AI, natural-language analytics or agentic AI solutions.
• Experience designing or running enablement or training programs.
• Highly desirable: data, agentic or AI certification (Azure, Databricks, Snowflake); AI governance credentials (e.g. IAPP AIGP, ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Implementer, DAMA CDMP); experience managing a Microsoft partner relationship; prior consulting or professional services experience.
