Cyber Security Engineer – Cloud & Data Centre

About the role

AGL is seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to join its Cyber Transformation program. The role sits at the centre of security uplift initiatives, delivering engineering outcomes across Enterprise IT, Cloud Platforms, and the Secure Energy Data Centre (SEDC). You will work closely with Cyber Security, Cloud Engineering, Infrastructure and Operations teams to strengthen AGL’s resilience against evolving cyber threats.

Key responsibilities

• Engineer, configure and maintain security technologies across enterprise, cloud and Secure Energy Data Centre environments.
• Enhance SIEM, EDR and monitoring platforms to improve detection of emerging threats and suspicious behaviours.
• Operationalise threat intelligence by developing detection rules, dashboards and automated response capabilities.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments, analyse findings and partner with teams to drive remediation.
• Implement and maintain secure cloud configurations in Azure and AWS.
• Support secure architecture, monitoring, access controls and data‑protection initiatives within the Secure Energy Data Centre.
• Contribute to incident response investigations and security hardening across critical technology environments.

Required profile

• Experience in cyber security engineering, security operations or a related technical security discipline.
• Strong understanding of networking, operating systems and core cyber security principles.
• Hands‑on experience with security technologies such as SIEM, EDR, firewalls, vulnerability management tools and cloud‑native security platforms.
• Knowledge of cloud security practices across Azure and/or AWS.
• Experience supporting incident investigation, response and remediation activities.
• Familiarity with cyber security frameworks and standards including ISO 27001, NIST CSF and ASD Essential Eight.
