Cyber Security Architect & Principal Security Engineer – Canberra (Hybrid)

About the role

Strategic Partners Australia is seeking experienced Cyber Security professionals for two senior positions – Cyber Security Architect and Principal Security Engineer (Cyber Advisor) – to support a Federal Government client in Canberra. Both roles are hybrid and require a security clearance eligible citizen.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement security architecture and secure‑by‑design solutions.
• Secure network and enterprise infrastructure, conduct cyber threat and risk assessments.
• Manage security monitoring, SIEM platforms and cyber governance, compliance and assurance activities.
• Lead the implementation and administration of enterprise SIEM solutions such as Microsoft Sentinel, Windows Defender, IBM QRadar, Elastic or Splunk.
• Develop automation, complex queries, correlation rules, parsers and SOC playbooks to optimise alert quality and reduce false positives.

Required profile

• Citizen eligible for Australian Government security clearance.
• Proven senior‑level experience as a technical lead on SIEM platforms.
• Strong background in security architecture, network security and risk assessment.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment for a 36‑month contract (extendable by 24 months).
