Cost Manager - Real Estate

About the role

Turner & Townsend, a global professional services company with over 22,000 people in more than 60 countries and majority-owned by CBRE Group, is recruiting a Cost Manager in Melbourne. The role covers cost planning, tendering and procurement, post-contract cost reporting and valuations, within the real estate sector.

Key responsibilities

• Produce feasibility studies and write procurement reports.
• Estimate and cost plan, including producing and presenting the final cost plan.
• Handle tendering and procurement: manage prequalification, produce the tender list, prepare preliminaries, run pre-tender estimates, tender analysis, tender reports and compile contractual documents.
• Deal with post-contract cost variances and change control, referring major changes to the line manager.
• Assess progress claims on site and carry out cost checks and valuations on larger projects, ensuring they are timely and accurate.
• Produce monthly post-contract cost reports for the Line Manager to present to the client.
• Input into value engineering and feed lessons learned from each commission into the company's internal database.
• Identify new business opportunities with existing clients and follow project governance and cost management procedures, cascading them to staff.
• Lead a cost management team where appropriate, and comply with SOX control requirements where applicable.

Required profile

• Recognised degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or similar.
• Sound experience in cost planning and contract administration.
• 5+ years of experience in cost management roles, with an emphasis on consultancy roles.
• Experience managing clients, contractors and consultants directly.
• RICS and AIQS accreditation preferred; previous CostX experience preferred.

• Intermediate to high-level MS Excel.
