Coordinator Waste Engagement & Communications

About the role

The City of Sydney is seeking a proactive Coordinator to lead waste engagement and communications. You will translate complex waste‑management information into clear, compelling messages that inspire residents to recycle more and reduce waste.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver communication and engagement activities that support waste and recycling objectives.
• Create and publish content across print, web, social media and email channels.
• Write and edit clear, audience‑focused copy that simplifies technical information.
• Leverage data, insights and AI tools to improve targeting, efficiency and impact.
• Collaborate with internal teams, external agencies and community partners to ensure high‑quality outcomes.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering communication or engagement campaigns that drive behaviour change.
• Strong writing and content development skills for both digital and traditional media.
• Ability to juggle competing priorities and manage several projects at once.
• Confidence building relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
• Curiosity and adaptability, comfortable using AI and emerging technologies.
• Proactive, solutions‑focused mindset.
