Coordinator Statutory Planning

About the role

A peri-regional Victorian Council, located about two hours from Melbourne, one hour from Geelong and 80 minutes from Ballarat, is recruiting a Coordinator Statutory Planning. The role leads the delivery of the Council's statutory planning function, provides technical leadership to the team and oversees complex and significant planning matters. It suits an experienced local government professional looking for a regional move without going remote.

Key responsibilities

• Provide authoritative planning advice and guide sound, consistent decision-making
• Represent the Council at VCAT and other statutory forums
• Work closely with Councillors, applicants, community members and internal stakeholders
• Develop the team and influence how the service evolves and improves

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in town planning or a related discipline
• Substantial experience in local government
• Strong technical planning knowledge and professional judgement
• Confidence navigating complex or contentious matters
• Enjoys developing others and building constructive relationships; formal people leadership experience is welcomed but strong technical leaders and mentors are also encouraged to apply
