About the role

Captain Cook Cruises, The Jackson and the Starship Group are looking for a skilled Cook who takes pride in the quality of what leaves the pass. Reporting to the Chef, the Cook prepares consistent, high-quality dishes for a lively service aboard a ship on Sydney Harbour, where guests often see the harbour for the first time. The workplace is on site.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook menu items to spec, keeping consistency and presentation in mind across every sitting
• Manage your section confidently during service, working closely with the Chef and the wider galley team
• Handle proteins, sauces and sides with proper technique, balancing precision and speed
• Monitor stock levels and quality, flagging what needs ordering or rotation
• Maintain a clean, organised and compliant workspace throughout service and pack-down
• Support menu execution for a range of cruise formats, from set lunch runs to larger functions

Required profile

• Capable, motivated Cook with solid fundamentals: clean knife work, sound technique and a good feel for how a busy service comes together
• Steady, organised under pressure, clear communicator and proud of your section and your plates
• Takes food safety and hygiene seriously
• Appetite to keep growing, whether early in your career or with several years in commercial kitchens

Required skills

• Safe Food Handling Certificate (essential)
• First Aid Certificate (desired)
• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or higher (desired)
