Controls Design Manager

About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated Controls Design Manager to lead and develop our controls design team. You will be responsible for delivering innovative solutions that meet customer expectations, regulatory requirements, and SMC standards while ensuring quality and efficient assembly.

Key responsibilities

• Manage, guide and develop a team of Technical Design Engineers (Controls), set objectives, monitor progress and conduct performance reviews.
• Allocate tasks, schedule work, verify engineering standards and continuously improve design processes.
• Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders and provide technical support.
• Design products and systems compliant with Australian Standards, regulatory and SMC requirements, emphasizing design‑for‑manufacture and error‑proofing.
• Produce technical design documents, manuals, testing and commissioning documentation.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics).
• Minimum 10 years of engineering design team leadership experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
• Electrical Licence (advantage).

Required skills

• Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
