Contracts Manager

About the role

The Contracts Manager will lead contract management services for the Grid Automation Business Unit in Australia, ensuring all activities align with Hitachi Energy's policies and the Contract Management Framework.

Key responsibilities

• Lead contract governance across a portfolio of projects, ensuring compliance with company policies and contractual obligations.
• Review, negotiate, and manage customer and supplier contracts, covering commercial and technical terms during tender and execution phases.
• Develop contract strategies that balance commercial objectives, scope, schedule, pricing, opportunities, and risk exposure.
• Support drafting and negotiation of purchase orders, sub‑contracts, and supplier agreements with appropriate risk allocation.
• Manage contract execution activities such as payments, variation orders, claims, warranties, and guarantees.
• Identify and pursue contractual entitlements, including extensions of time and compensation events.
• Partner with Legal, Project Management, and Sales teams to resolve disputes, manage claims, and mitigate risks.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Law.
• 8–10 years of contracts management experience in an engineering, procurement & construction environment.
• Proven negotiation skills and ability to assess and implement solutions for troubled projects.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Word and Excel.
• Knowledge of SaaS contracts and FIDIC (Yellow/Orange/Red Book) contracts.
• Familiarity with Australian Standards (AS) or AS/NZS contracts is an advantage.
