Construction Engineer (Structures)

About the role

Robert Bird Group, a member of the SJ Group, is a global consulting engineering firm and is seeking a Structural Engineer to join its Construction Engineering team in Adelaide. The engineer provides specialist staged analysis, construction methodology and temporary works design to major contractors building significant buildings and transport infrastructure in Adelaide and wider South Australia. The role is hybrid and sits within a supportive, collaborative team.

Key responsibilities

• Detailed structural design of temporary works and their impact on permanent works
• Liaise with clients, together with Project Directors and Associates, on current and future projects
• Take part in project resource management with the Project Directors
• Deliver projects successfully while supporting the group's reputation for innovation, technical excellence, quality and project delivery
• Collaborate with team members, contributors and stakeholders to keep quality, timeliness and coordination of deliverables

Required profile

• Relevant engineering qualification with a focus on structural engineering
• 3+ years of structural engineering industry experience
• Experience delivering detailed engineering drawings matching the level of duties
• Solid grounding in steel and concrete design
• Project management and hands-on experience covering administrative, commercial and technical aspects
• Ability to write technical reports with minimal correction and give final reviews
• Able to work independently and in a team, with full working rights

Required skills

• Strong understanding of Australian codes and standards
• Design experience using relevant structural software
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Temporary works design experience preferred but not required
