Compliance and Optimisation Manager

About the role

Kmart Australia's Profit Protection team is looking for a Compliance and Optimisation Manager to join its team in Chadstone. You will work across stores and support functions to improve governance, identify operational risk and turn data into practical action. The role includes the early stages of a multi-year stocktake digitisation program, the development of merchandise protection standards and stronger central governance of Profit Protection processes and policies. It is a 12-month fixed term contract.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the governance and continuous improvement of Profit Protection processes, policies and standards.
• Identify process gaps, operational risks and compliance issues, then coordinate corrective actions.
• Help establish and progress the roadmap for digitising stocktake processes.
• Maintain Profit Protection policies, incorporating investigation outcomes and changing business requirements.
• Partner with Merchandise teams on merchandise protection standards.
• Support contract owners with privacy, contractual and operational compliance across supplier arrangements.
• Use store process metrics, shrink insights and reporting to guide decisions and prioritise improvements.
• Influence senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams to embed consistent ways of working.

Required profile

• Experience in retail operations, risk, compliance, process improvement or a related role.
• Strong understanding of retail processes and operational controls.
• Ability to assess risk, improve compliance and turn findings into practical business solutions.
• Experience leading projects or change initiatives across multiple stakeholder groups.
• Clear, confident communication and the ability to influence stakeholders at different levels.
• Profit Protection experience is beneficial but not essential.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, formulas and charts.
• Analytical and problem-solving capability, using reporting and data to inform decisions.
