Community Integration Manager, Action Sports Events

About the role

We are seeking a passionate Community Integration Manager to build and lead the community around our running events within MARI’s Action Sports division. Based in Melbourne, you will report to the Senior Director of Commercial and work closely with event teams to enhance participant loyalty and commercial value.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the end‑to‑end community experience for flagship events such as the Nike Melbourne Marathon and extend standards across the Great Ocean Road Running Festival, Bondi to Manly Ultra, GC30 and GC50.
• Own participant‑facing apps and digital touchpoints, shaping engagement before, during and after each event.
• Coordinate broadcast arrangements and design spectator entertainment to turn races into day‑out experiences.
• Build and deepen run‑club integration, manage charity partnerships, and grow licensed merchandise revenue.
• Recruit, train and retain volunteers and event workforce, creating scalable systems across the portfolio.
• Plan community training series and shake‑out runs, and manage accessibility, inclusion and sustainability initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience building community, engagement or fan experience in mass‑participation or endurance events.
• Strong understanding of running culture with credibility among run clubs, participants and volunteers.
• Track record managing partners and stakeholders such as charities, suppliers and internal teams.
• Commercial awareness of how community engagement drives revenue.
• Exceptional organisation, communication and relationship‑building skills.

Required skills

• Fluency with digital and app‑based experiences.
• Experience coordinating volunteers or large event workforces.
