Community Engagement Officer

About the role

The Community Engagement Officer will support the Coordinator in delivering Bayside Council’s community engagement services. This role focuses on strategic advice, research and the implementation of high‑quality initiatives that enable residents to participate in planning and decision‑making that affect their local area.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in delivering the Council’s Community Engagement Strategy and Framework to ensure community participation in planning and decision‑making.
• Research and support engagement projects, making sure they are well‑informed, delivered on time and within budget.
• Promote a transparent, ethical and collaborative culture across the organisation.
• Work with other Council teams to provide a consistent approach to community engagement activities.
• Help deliver value for stakeholders in an ethical, social and environmentally responsible manner.

Required profile

• Demonstrated interest in community engagement and public participation.
• Willingness to obtain an IAP2 Certificate (or already hold one).
• Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent professional experience.
• Current Class C driver’s licence.
• Flexibility to work varied hours and locations as needed.
