About the role
Anthropic is seeking a Community Engagement Manager for its data centre portfolio in Australia. The role sits within the Public Policy team and serves as the on‑the‑ground link between Anthropic’s policy and infrastructure groups and the local communities where data centres are selected, built and operated.
Key responsibilities
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with local councils, state ministries, regional development bodies, community groups, educational institutions and workforce partners.
- Develop and execute a community engagement strategy covering site selection, pre‑development, construction and ongoing operations.
- Host education and listening sessions, create coalitions and design local solutions that deliver tangible benefits.
- Represent Anthropic at public forums, town halls, planning hearings, community events and media engagements.
- Monitor community sentiment and political dynamics, advising internal teams on risks, opportunities and appropriate engagement pace.
- Partner with Real Estate and Infrastructure teams to integrate community input into project planning and delivery.
- Travel regularly within the assigned region (up to 50% of time) and occasionally to other data centre markets.
Required profile
- Proven experience building long‑term relationships with government officials, community organisations and industry partners.
- Strong understanding of community engagement processes across site selection, construction and operational phases.
- Excellent communication and translation skills to convey technical plans into clear local benefits.
- Ability to work independently, travel frequently and act as Anthropic’s visible neighbour.
