Community Development Aboriginal Specialist

About the role

The Community Development – Aboriginal Specialist will coordinate Bayside Council’s Reconciliation Action Plan, build partnerships with local Aboriginal communities and ensure Aboriginal voices are integrated into program and service planning.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the Council’s Reconciliation Action Plan, including reporting on achievements and progress.
• Support the RAP Working Group and other stakeholders to deliver Reconciliation Week, NAIDOC Week and related cultural programs.
• Work with Aboriginal organisations and local groups to develop and implement responsive community development activities.
• Research and prepare grant applications for funding initiatives relevant to the Aboriginal community.
• Provide advice to Council business units on issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
• Aboriginality (as defined by Section 14(d) of the Anti‑Discrimination Act 1977).
• Current Driver’s Licence Class C.

What we offer

• Permanent full‑time position, 35 hr week with a 9‑day fortnight.
• Salary from $102,275 to $114,548 per annum plus 12 % superannuation.
