Communications & Engagement Officer

About the role

A well-regarded Australian Government organisation, which strengthens Australia's international relationships through partnerships, stakeholder engagement, cultural initiatives and public diplomacy, is looking for a Communications & Engagement Officer in Sydney. The role suits someone who enjoys hands-on work and can quickly become a trusted member of a busy team, supporting social media, communications, events and stakeholder engagement. The position is open only to Australian citizens, and an existing Baseline Clearance is highly regarded.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain social media channels and digital communications activities
• Create engaging content across a range of platforms and audiences
• Coordinate events, forums and stakeholder engagement activities
• Support the delivery of communications campaigns and engagement initiatives
• Build and maintain relationships with a broad range of stakeholders
• Monitor digital performance and identify ways to improve audience engagement
• Provide communications support across day-to-day business activities

Required profile

• Previous experience working in the government sector
• Current Baseline Security Clearance, or the ability to obtain one
• Demonstrated event coordination and stakeholder engagement experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Proactive, creative and solutions-focused mindset
• Confidence working independently and delivering high-quality outcomes
• Mandarin-Chinese language skills are highly regarded
