Communications and PR Coordinator

About the role

The Rugby World Cup Australia is seeking a Communications & PR Coordinator to join its Sydney office. Reporting to the Senior Communications Manager, you will help bring the story of the 2027 Rugby World Cup to life across Australia and globally. The role is fast‑paced, collaborative and centred on media relations and storytelling.

Key responsibilities

• Support the communications and media strategy, working with senior leaders to raise the profile of RWC 2027.
• Manage day‑to‑day media operations, handling media requests, journalist enquiries and interview coordination.
• Develop and distribute communications content such as media releases, talking points, briefing notes and press assets.
• Plan and deliver media events, press conferences, milestone announcements and tournament activations, including logistics and on‑the‑day execution.
• Maintain media lists, trackers and distribution tools, monitor coverage and contribute to reporting and insights.
• Collaborate with internal teams, agencies and partners to ensure aligned messaging and identify compelling stories.
• Oversee communications assets (photography, video, media kits) and maintain administrative systems like calendars and project trackers.

Required profile

• 2–4 years of experience in communications, public relations, media, journalism or events.
• Demonstrated ability to manage media relations and produce clear, engaging communications material.
• Strong organisational skills and the capacity to work under tight deadlines.
