Commis Chef

About the role

Federal Hospitality is hiring a Commis Chef for its Country Club Tasmania property, located 300 acres from Launceston's CBD and offering accommodation, dining, gaming and leisure. The kitchen is described as fast-paced and exciting, with a close-knit team supporting the delivery of memorable dining experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food according to standard recipes and presentation requirements.
• Support food service across a range of kitchen operations.
• Maintain high standards of food quality, storage, hygiene and cleanliness.
• Keep refrigerators, freezers, workstations and food preparation areas clean and organised.
• Work closely with senior chefs and follow their direction during preparation and service.
• Report missing stock, equipment faults and safety hazards promptly.
• Take part in kitchen training, team meetings and ongoing development.
• Follow all food safety, workplace health and safety requirements.

Required profile

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, or an equivalent trade qualification.
• Relevant experience in a commercial kitchen.
• A genuine interest in developing culinary skills and building a career.
• Ability to stay organised and manage competing priorities during busy services.
• Flexibility to work across different kitchens.

• Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene and safe work practices.
