Commis Chef (Full Time and Part Time)

About the role

JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa is recruiting an experienced and dedicated Commis Chef to join its fast-paced kitchen team. Reporting directly to the Executive Chef, you will help create high-quality food for luxury guests. The position is full time and part time.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate any assistance needed during busy periods to the Chef so that service runs smoothly.
• Check and ensure the correct temperature of appliances and food.
• Ensure proper portion, arrangement and garnish of dishes served.
• Monitor the quantity of food prepared and the portions served.
• Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping and storing.
• Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables.
• Wash and disinfect the kitchen area, including tables, tools, knives and equipment.
• Prepare and cook food, set up, clean and break down work stations.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a similar environment is viewed favourably.
• Strong food safety knowledge.
• Great communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team and independently.
• Passion for food and aspiration to grow a culinary career.
