Commercial Officer

About the role

Babcock is expanding its commercial team in Western Australia and is looking for a Commercial Officer to support strategic Defence contracts. This full‑time position offers early‑career professionals the chance to work closely with senior leaders and gain hands‑on experience in contract management, risk monitoring and stakeholder engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Assist senior leaders in strengthening commercial operations across WA programmes.
• Ensure day‑to‑day activities and strategic initiatives are commercially sound.
• Support contract and governance requirements, including documentation, performance measures and deliverables.
• Participate in contract reviews, variations, risk monitoring and stakeholder engagement.
• Maintain high‑quality written communications and manage confidential information with discretion.

Required profile

• Australian citizen with a Defence security clearance (or ability to obtain one).
• Tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, Law, Finance or equivalent experience.
• Experience with ASDEFCON contracts, sub‑contracts, procurement, supply chain, finance or program/project management, preferably in a Defence or large corporate environment.
• Strong written communication skills, attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines.
• Understanding of legal principles as they apply to commercial or contractual settings.
