Collaborative Pianist and Accompanist

About the role

Reddam House Sydney, part of Inspired Education, is seeking a Collaborative Pianist and Accompanist for its Music Department in a full-time, permanent role supporting students from Primary through to Year 12. The pianist accompanies choirs, ensembles, soloists, productions, concerts, assessments, competitions and major school events, working across the Woollahra and Bondi campuses.

Key responsibilities

• Accompany choirs, instrumental ensembles and student soloists across a wide range of styles and repertoire.
• Prepare and support students for concerts, recitals, competitions, assessments and HSC performances.
• Collaborate with Music staff to improve rehearsal and performance outcomes.
• Provide musical coaching and support to developing performers.
• Independently prepare scores, repertoire and performance materials.
• Coordinate rehearsal schedules and communicate with students and staff.
• Support student wellbeing and duty of care during rehearsals, performances, tours and events.
• Contribute to departmental planning, special projects and professional development.

Required profile

• Qualifications in Piano Performance, Collaborative Piano, Music or equivalent professional experience.
• Professional performance experience across a variety of musical styles.
• Experience supporting and inspiring primary and secondary-aged students.
• A current NSW Working With Children Check.

Required skills

• Exceptional piano performance and sight-reading skills.
• Strong aural, ensemble and accompaniment capabilities.
• Ability to work with conductors, teachers, soloists and ensembles.
• Excellent communication, organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Flexibility for early morning rehearsals, evening performances, selected weekend events and key music activities.
• Experience with music technology, arranging, keyboard programming or orchestration is highly regarded.
