Coal Technician – Onsite Laboratories

About the role

SGS is seeking a Coal Technician for its Bowen Basin onsite laboratories. You will be trained across multiple sites and provide coverage to ensure accurate collection, preparation, and analysis of coal samples in line with Australian and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, prepare, analyse, store and report coal samples according to approved procedures.
• Maintain accuracy, precision and traceability of all testing activities.
• Assist with preventative maintenance of laboratory and sample preparation equipment.
• Plan shift workflows, coordinate sample collection and communicate with incoming/outgoing shifts.
• Promote a strong safety culture and report equipment or safety issues promptly.

Required profile

• Reliable, safety‑focused individual who takes pride in delivering accurate results.
• Team‑oriented with the ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Basic knowledge of coal sampling, preparation and testing (preferred).
