About the role
Join SGS Australia’s Energy Minerals Division as a Coal Technician in Mount Thorley, NSW. You will work in a fast‑paced laboratory environment handling coal samples, performing physical testing, and supporting both internal and external customers.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct physical coal testing and analysis, including crushing, weighing, drying, milling and sieving of routine samples.
- Collect, record, sort, store and deliver coal samples from client mine site washeries.
- Maintain and upkeep testing equipment on a daily basis.
Required profile
- Unrestricted driver’s licence and reliable transport.
- Ability to handle manual tasks involving samples up to 15 kg and work flexible shifts, including days, afternoons, nights, weekdays and weekends.
- Strong communication skills and a team‑oriented attitude.
Required skills
- Experience with coal sampling and testing procedures (crushing, weighing, drying, milling, sieving).
- Forklift licence (desirable).
- High‑risk work ticket (desirable).
