Cluster Assistant Accountant

About the role

The Cluster Assistant Accountant reports to the ADOF and supports the finance team with the day-to-day execution of general ledger processes, including account balancing, ledger reconciliation, reporting, discrepancy resolution and end-of-month processes. It is a cluster role covering the Melbourne Marriott Hotel Docklands and the AC Hotel by Marriott Melbourne Southbank.

Key responsibilities

• Support the DOF and ADOF with monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
• Complete month-end journal entries and accruals
• Prepare, maintain, audit and distribute statistical, financial, accounting, auditing and payroll reports and tables
• Prepare, review, reconcile and issue bills, invoices and account statements
• Follow up and resolve past due accounts and vendor invoices until paid in full
• Assist with other general accounting functions as needed
• Organise, secure and maintain files, records, cash and cash equivalents in line with policy

Required profile

• Finance or accounting qualification, or currently working towards it
• Prior experience in a finance role such as AR, AP or finance officer
• First-hand work experience or strong understanding of the hospitality industry
• Unrestricted working rights in Australia
