Cloud Engineer (AWS/Azure) - Hybrid Melbourne

About the role

A client is hiring two mid to senior Cloud Engineers for its Cloud Operations team in Melbourne, in a multi-cloud environment combining AWS and Azure. The team currently relies heavily on the console, and these two hires are central to moving the work toward Terraform and Infrastructure as Code, self-service and a fast-growing internal AI application platform. The position is permanent, pays up to $160,000 plus superannuation and bonus, and is hybrid.

Key responsibilities

• Convert existing ClickOps environments into Terraform across AWS and Azure and extend the existing Terraform codebase.
• Support an Azure landing zone uplift: assess subscriptions affected by new security policies, work with teams on exclusions or changes, and roll out the policies.
• Support a centralised AI application platform on Amazon EKS, investigating issues and requests as usage grows.
• Manage and troubleshoot AWS infrastructure, including EC2, networking, IAM and native services.
• Help set up DevOps agents to enable self-service for engineering teams.
• Handle operational tickets: account and subscription creation, SSO setup, certificate fixes, investigations and server patching.
• Maintain Windows Server environments alongside Active Directory and Entra ID.

Required profile

• Solid hands-on experience in both AWS and Azure; equal depth in each is not required.
• Hands-on Terraform experience, preferring code over the console.
• Working knowledge of containers (Docker) and orchestration such as EKS or ECS.
• Python or similar scripting for automation.
• Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory or Entra ID.
• Comfort with ticket-based operational work alongside project and uplift work.
• Enthusiasm for using AI in engineering work, with dedicated AI tooling and budget available.
