Clinical Midwife - Maternity Core Unit

About the role

The North West Hospital and Health Service (NWHHS) is recruiting a Clinical Midwife for its Maternity Core Unit in North West Queensland. The midwife provides advanced midwifery care and clinical leadership across antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal services, working with obstetric, neonatal and allied health teams to deliver safe, evidence-based and culturally responsive care.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver expert, woman-centred care across antenatal, birthing and postnatal services, ensuring safe and evidence-based outcomes for women and babies.
• Provide clinical leadership, mentorship and support to midwives, nurses and other team members, fostering a positive and collaborative practice environment.
• Coordinate and manage complex maternity care, working closely with obstetric, neonatal and allied health teams.

Required profile

• A relevant tertiary degree qualification and appropriate registration or licence.
• C Class motor vehicle licence.
• Pre-employment screening, including criminal history checks.
• As a VPD risk role, evidence of vaccination or immunity to Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Tuberculosis may be required.
• A period of probation may apply.

What we offer

• Isolation bonus of AUD$3,714 for 1 year, AUD$11,140 for 2 years, and AUD$7,426 for each subsequent year (pro rata for part-time employees).
• 2 return airfares per year to the nearest east coast provincial city for full-time employees, or 1 for part-time, during recreation leave.

• 2 weeks' annual leave, travel as required, and enrolment and conference costs for approved courses and conferences.
