Clinical Director Mental Health

About the role

The North West Hospital and Health Service (NWHHS) is recruiting a Clinical Director for its Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) services across North West Queensland. The role combines clinical expertise with strategic leadership, shaping community-focused, culturally responsive care models for rural and remote communities. It is a permanent, full-time position.

Required profile

• Current Specialist Psychiatry registration, or eligible for it with the Medical Board of Australia
• Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) or equivalent, registrable as a specialist with the Medical Board of Queensland
• Able to prescribe Opioid Substitution Therapy (OST)
• Relevant tertiary degree and appropriate registration/licences
• C Class motor vehicle licence
• Pre-employment screening, including criminal history checks; VPD risk role that may require evidence of immunity to Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Tuberculosis
• A period of probation may apply

What we offer

• Base salary of $225,305 to $284,318 p.a. (L18-L27), within a total remuneration package up to $648,321
• Long service leave and sick leave accrual, and 5 weeks annual recreational leave with 17.5% loading when taken
• Employer superannuation contribution of 12.75%
• Attraction and retention allowance of 50% of base annual salary, plus regional and rural attraction allowance of 15%
• Motor vehicle allowance, professional development allowance and leave of 3.6 weeks p.a., and inaccessibility allowance
