Civil Site Manager – Energy Projects

About the role

The Civil Site Manager serves as the on‑site leader for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of a hybrid energy facility. You will be accountable for all on‑site activities, driving the project from groundbreaking through mechanical completion, commissioning and grid connection.

Key responsibilities

• Directly supervise and coordinate civil, mechanical, structural and electrical subcontractors.
• Enforce the project’s Quality Management System, oversee inspections and FAT verifications on‑site.
• Maintain the Site Safety Management Plan and ensure compliance with all high‑risk construction activities.
• Manage the Environmental Management Plan, controlling dust, noise, waste and cultural heritage requirements.
• Lead the transition from construction to commissioning, working with OEM specialists for gas turbines and BESS systems.
• Coordinate with the grid connection team and network service providers for hot commissioning and power injection.
• Compile as‑built documentation, operations manuals and safety dossiers for handover.
• Manage variations, progress claims and disputes to protect commercial interests.
• Host regular progress walks, report KPIs and resolve client technical queries.
• Monitor site expenditures, logistics costs and contingency usage against the baseline.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or Construction Management (highly regarded).
• Minimum 3 years supervisory or management experience on major infrastructure, oil & gas, utilities or new energy projects.
• Proven background in bulk earthworks, civil subdivisions, utilities or roadworks.
• White Card, First Aid certificate and a valid Australian driver’s licence.
• Strong leadership, communication and conflict‑resolution skills; calm and decisive under pressure.
• Understanding of how operational decisions impact power purchase agreements and market revenue.
