Civil Project Manager – Mining Infrastructure

About the role

Whitehaven Coal is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead civil infrastructure and capital works projects at Blackwater Mine. You will be responsible for planning, executing and delivering a diverse portfolio of projects that support mining operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead planning, development and execution of civil infrastructure projects including haul roads, drainage, water management, tailings and dam works, and site facilities.
• Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules and procurement strategies, and manage risks, opportunities and stakeholder expectations.
• Coordinate contractors, consultants and multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient and on‑time delivery.
• Oversee construction activities, ensuring compliance with technical, quality, safety, environmental and statutory requirements.
• Monitor performance, prepare progress reports and forecasts for senior leadership, and drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience managing civil construction or infrastructure projects from concept to completion, preferably in mining or heavy‑industrial environments.
• Strong commercial acumen with experience managing project budgets and capital expenditure.
• Excellent planning, organisational and problem‑solving abilities, with the capacity to balance operational priorities.
• Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent; project management qualifications or industry certifications are a plus.
• Current Queensland driver’s licence.
