Civil Designer Engineer

About the role

Development Objective is a multidisciplinary firm bringing together project managers, consulting engineers, soil testers, surveyors, subdivision specialists, light gauge steel experts and residential building professionals, working from initial site investigation through to construction. The Civil Designer Engineer works full time on-site at the firm's office in Gold Coast, QLD, on residential and subdivision projects.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare civil design drawings and documentation for residential and subdivision projects
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, surveyors and soil testers
• Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, codes and local council requirements
• Carry out site assessments and review survey and geotechnical data
• Develop efficient solutions for roads, drainage, earthworks and service layouts
• Support design reviews, respond to RFIs and assist with construction support as needed
• Contribute to improving design processes and templates
• Maintain regular communication with internal and external stakeholders to keep projects on schedule and within scope

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Civil Design or a related discipline; eligibility for professional membership is an advantage
• Experience in residential developments, light gauge steel integration or similar projects is beneficial
• Capacity to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities in a busy on-site environment

Required skills

• Strong civil design skills, including subdivision, residential infrastructure and site layout planning
• Proficiency with design and drafting software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D or similar civil design tools
• Ability to interpret survey plans, soil test reports and engineering documentation
• Knowledge of Gold Coast / QLD planning schemes, engineering standards and council requirements for civil works
• Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy in calculations and drawings
• Effective written and verbal communication with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders
