Hydraulic Engineer / Designer (Building Services)

About the role

MDA Consulting Engineers, a multi-disciplined engineering practice, is looking for a Senior or Intermediate Hydraulic Designer to join its Brisbane or Gold Coast team. The role offers autonomy, ownership of projects and guidance of a drafting team, with work across a diverse Australian portfolio including high-rise resorts, retail hubs, schools, hospitals and government infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Own hydraulic systems design (water, gas, trade waste and drainage) from concept to completion.
• Provide design mark-ups to the AutoCAD/Revit team to produce formal documentation.
• Coordinate with internal Mechanical, Electrical, Fire and ESD teams and liaise with clients, builders and local authorities.
• Attend client briefings, carry out site inspections and manage RFIs.

Required profile

• 3+ years of hydraulic design experience in a consulting engineering or allied field.
• Excellent English documentation skills and the confidence to lead a team and work with clients.
• Australian citizenship or a valid work visa.

Required skills

• Strong grasp of the NCC, AS/NZS 3500 and council application processes.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD is required; Revit/BIM knowledge is highly advantageous.
• A relevant Certificate, Diploma or QBCC licence is highly regarded.
