Chef - Restaurant Cafe Coast

About the role

Restaurant Cafe Coast, a hospitality business in Wannanup, Western Australia, is looking for a skilled Chef to support food preparation, daily kitchen operations and the supervision of kitchen staff. The position is full-time and permanent, with 38 hours per week.

Key responsibilities

• Order ingredients and supplies within budget and check deliveries for quality and accuracy.
• Prepare and cook dishes with consistent quality, presentation and portion control.
• Monitor food preparation, minimise wastage and keep wastage records.
• Enforce the Staff Food Policy and prevent unauthorised food removal.
• Manage stock levels, rotation, storage and temperature control.
• Supervise, train and delegate duties to Line Cooks and Kitchen Hands, and help with weekly rosters.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness, hygiene and food safety standards, and follow OH&S procedures.
• Liaise with the Head Chef and management on menus, suppliers and kitchen operations, and coordinate daily operations and closing.

Required profile

• AQF Diploma or higher in Commercial Cookery, Culinary Arts or a closely related field; three years of relevant experience may substitute for a formal qualification.
• Demonstrated practical experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen, preparing a wide range of dishes across kitchen sections.
• Experience with menu planning, food costing, stock control and kitchen operations, and coordinating kitchen activities.
• Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene, temperature monitoring and workplace health and safety.
• Ability to work flexibly, including weekends and public holidays when required, and to perform the physical demands of kitchen work.

The annual salary range is $79,423 to $90,000.
