Catering Support Worker (Part Time)

About the role

St Martins - Waratah, an aged care facility run by Calvary Health Care, is looking for a part-time Care Support Worker Catering. The role works within the aged care team to help residents express their food preferences and choices while ensuring meals are nutritious and prepared to the right standards, supporting cultural, religious and dietary needs. The facility is about 10 minutes from Newcastle, near public transport and a local shopping complex.

Key responsibilities

• Support service delivery under the direction of the Chef/Cook.
• Prepare daily meals and beverages that meet each resident's needs, including special dietary requirements, allergies and culturally specific requests.
• Provide social and emotional support to all residents so that care is holistic and person centred.

Required profile

• Effective written and verbal communication.
• Ability to prioritise workloads and commitment to continuous quality improvement.
• Working knowledge of WH&S and infection control.
• Ability to operate standard domestic and industrial equipment.
• Experience in food preparation and food safety, and a Certificate III in Aged Care, are desired.
• Experience in cleaning and laundry services, and First Aid and Food Handling certificates, are also desired.
