Catering Assistant – Support Services

About the role

East Grampians Health Service, a rural health service in Ararat and Willaura, Victoria, is seeking a suitably skilled applicant for a permanent part-time Catering Assistant position of 20 hours per week. The role sits within the Support Services department and reports to the Food Services Supervisor or Catering and Environmental Coordinator. It involves preparing and serving food and beverages to meet the individual needs of patients and residents.

Key responsibilities

• Kitchen work, food handling and general cleaning, including dish cleanup and delivering meals to patients and residents
• Maintain a high standard of cleanliness throughout the Health Service, including kitchen cleaning
• Keep the environment clean, hygienic and safe under Victorian Health facilities cleaning standards
• Treat residents, clients, visitors and staff with respect, dignity and courtesy, in an environment free from harassment and discrimination
• Perform all delegated duties in a timely and efficient manner
• Take part in food service to residents and in removing meal trays and food after meals
• Document activities appropriately

Required profile

• Strong work ethic
• Team-oriented and flexible to job needs, able to work independently and as part of a team
• An exceptional eye for detail
• Friendly manner with residents, respecting patient privacy and confidentiality
• A food handling certificate is advantageous
